Get into Golf 2024

The aim of Get into Golf at The Merchants is to provide ladies & gents new to the sport the opportunity to try golf without the expense of buying equipment/ golf shoes and joining a club. We hope you will love the whole experience as much as we do and at the end of coaching decide to continue by joining our club. There will be an exclusive Membership Offer for you to take advantage of

If you are already an experienced golfer you may still want the whole package or simply to take up our Exclusive Membership Offer. Whatever your choice we hope you have a great experience at our club.

This deal is available from now and provides access to the club till the 1st March 2025. For a one-off payment of £250 you can play unlimited golf at quiet times on the 1st 9 holes at Merchant’s.
The quiet times are some mornings but generally in the afternoons and evenings. The deal includes 6 lessons as part of a group of 8. It also includes House membership, unlimited use of the practice facilities and the use of golf clubs and bags if required.
You will have a mentor who will take you out on the course and introduce you to others.
You do not need golf clubs. Equipment can be borrowed for the lessons and for practising. Just ask Neil or Caroline at the Pro Shop for the Get into Golf equipment. No special clothing is required. We suggest that you select the same clothes that you would wear for a walk, bearing in mind you need to be able to swing a club. A waterproof jacket would be a good idea.
Training shoes or gym shoes are fine.

Women in Golf Charter

The R&A unveiled its new Women in Golf Charter in May 2018 as part of the organisation’s global drive to increase the number of women and girls participating in golf and to encourage more opportunities for women to work within the golf industry.

The Women in Golf Charter intends to inspire an industry-wide commitment to developing a more inclusive culture within golf around the world and enable more women and girls to flourish and maximise their potential at all levels of the sport.

More than 240 clubs in Scotland have now committed to the Charter and we’re looking for even more.

We are delighted to have signed up to the The R&A’s Women in Golf Charter and #FOREeveryone campaign which is in place to help us create an inclusive culture in the game, encouraging more women and girls into the sport.

The Women in Golf Charter specifically aims to:
- Strengthen the focus on gender balance and provide a united position for the golf industry
- Commit national federations and organisations to support measures targeted at increasing participation of women, girls and families in golf
- Call upon signatories to take positive action to support the recruitment, retention and progression of women working at all levels of the sport
- Set individual targets for national associations for participation and membership and reporting progress annually
- Develop an inclusive environment for women and girls within golf
